Privacy Policy

Doc Ref: LAKSHYA-PRIV-2026-V1

This Privacy Policy describes data collection, usage, and protection protocols when utilizing the Lakshya mobile application ("the App"). As an independent developer, I am committed to minimizing data footprint and respecting your privacy.

1. Scope of Data Collection

1.1 Authentication & Account Records

Creating an account is completely optional. Browsing, searching, and proximity calculations are accessible without an account. If you register to use active submission or bookmarks features, the following data is processed:

  • Email Address — collected during sign-up (Google OAuth or email/password).
  • Unique User Identifier (UUID) — generated by the Supabase authentication service.
  • Metadata Profile — user role (e.g., user, admin) and a system heartbeat timestamp (last seen).

1.2 Device Location Access

The App requests access to location coordinates to power distance-based features:

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION — accesses precise GPS coordinates to calculate proximity metrics.
  • ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — accesses cell tower or Wi-Fi approximate coordinates as a fallback.

Note: Distance calculation is executed purely on-device. Raw coordinates are never transmitted to remote servers unless you explicitly submit a business listing coordinates update.

1.3 User-Contributed Directory Data

To support crowd-sourced mapping, the App stores information voluntarily submitted by authenticated users:

  • Business Submissions — names, numbers, addresses, custom tags, coordinates (lat/long), and hours.
  • Timing Suggestions — correction proposals for existing business schedules.
  • Bookmarks — list of bookmarked business identifiers mapped to your profile for device synchronization.
  • Reports & Feedback — text details regarding broken listings or system support logs.

2. Data Processing & Usage

I process data only to provide and maintain the App's core services:

  • Session Management — establishing and maintaining account state.
  • Sorting & Radius Filters — calculating proximity metrics on-device.
  • Moderation Queue — evaluating community contributions before publishing.
  • Server Storage — storing persistent database rows via Supabase.
  • Monetization — running anchored feed ads to cover database and development expenses.

3. Third-Party Integrations

The App integrates specific third-party services to function. Please review their privacy disclosures:

  • Supabase — database hosting, auth infrastructure, and session management. Supabase Privacy.
  • Google Sign-In — native authentication flow. Google Privacy.
  • Google AdMob — in-app ad monetization. processes device ad IDs and cookies to deliver layout banners. Google Ads Policy.
  • OpenStreetMap — map tiles rendering. OSM Privacy.

4. Storage & Security Protocols

Local configurations (themes, search shortcuts) utilize the device's native shared_preferences. Remote records use a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase and accessed through HTTPS. The App does not support media uploads; only structured text metadata and geographical coordinates are stored in the database.

5. Account Deletion

Users can delete their Lakshya account and all associated personal data directly within the mobile app at any time by navigating to the Profile section and tapping the Delete Account option located below your profile details. Alternatively, you may contact support at ottergrumpy@gmail.com for assistance.

When an account deletion is initiated, the following data is permanently erased:

  • Account credentials and authentication records
  • Saved bookmarks and offline collections
  • Business submissions linked to the account
  • User preferences and profile metadata

Some anonymized audit logs may be retained temporarily where strictly required for fraud prevention, legal compliance, or security backups. Retained records are permanently purged according to our system retention policy.
